The Figure in Landscape with Steve Rose

Course Overview: Utilizing and placing the figure in the landscape can be very effective in creating a powerful painting. This can be seen in both historical and contemporary fine art practice. In this week-long course, you’ll explore how to build strong compositions from landscapes and/or interiors with a view, while working in acrylic paint. This is a fascinating opportunity to work with travel photographs, family and personal nostalgia imagery, and memory. Diverse inspirations from artists such as David Hockney, Rose Hilton, Matisse, Mark Frank, Richard Diebenkorn and the Canadian Kim Dorland will be discussed and examined to support your personal interpretation and inspiration. Join us for a unique and exciting learning experience that will challenge and evoke something new and different.
